Is there a reason people will paint the front door of their house red when it doesnt match the house paint?

Many houses in our area have for example a light brown house with dark brown trim that looks very nice until you see the front door that is painted bright red! I wonder if there is some superstition that I have not heard of.

      Well…. I know a lot of women in my neighbourhood like to paint their front door lavender. It’s a lesbian thing!

      Red, I don’t know. Maybe it is good luck?

      I thought people painted doors a contrasting colour mostly because it looks nice.

      Red is supposed to be a warm and inviting color, to have it on your front door is to make you feel welcome. I don’t think there is a superstition that goes along with it, though I just might never have heard of it.

      For people to be any color of the color ive seen houses with the door is meant to attract your attention not only so that you know where to be the owner red just happens to paint the front door different color.
