You can do tons of colors - for instance you could do a nice cream with a red accent wall - or if red is too bright for you you could use the new IT color. A nice teal. brown and black are ok to mix together as long as you use one as the dominant color ( if you are using the black couch brown would have to be used as an accent ). Also olive green looks nice with black.
Try looking for new pillows to put on the couch ... pillows are not that expensive and could give you an idea for a color pallet. try pier1.com - they have pretty much every color imaginable for pillows. Since it sounds like you have a solid color couch you can use a patterned pillow and if you want to soften up the look of the leather use a throw blanket or softer feeling pillows.
If you still want to do an accent wall i suggest keeping the other walls a neutral color like cream, taupe, gray, or light brown. Whatever wall you want the most focus on ( the wall with the large windows, fireplace, large screen tv ) is the wall to paint with the accent color.
Hope I helped.

I would do a brighter green (like grass green). Or, maybe even a mango color.
